175 Months

I have said it a million times but it is amazing how angels speak to us!  I have found three pennies in the last week during spring break, I just love it.  Especially the one we found today bur Finley wanted it. He held it in his pocket all day long. When we arrived at Epcot he asked if he could throw Lola's penny out during a ride, that is a popular Disney thing to do in certain spots. Of course he could!!! So now when we ride through The Three Cabernos and see the beach towel with all the coins, we will know one belongs to Lola. It is sweet and just brings Lola closer to us during another adventure.

174 Months

Today, Milo and I found a shiny penny on our way out of Magic Kingdom. It couldn't have been a more magical place to find one and JP instantly chimed in to remind Mi that it was the 16th. A penny today is particularly fitting and even more special on a family outing. It just makes you smile knowing she is with us every step of the way, for the little and big things!!! I predict this penny may end up in the founatin at Epcot as wish...Milo kept this one. But today it was a great sign from our angel!

173 Months

On Mondays I try to walk to the Celebration Memorial Garden. It just feels like a nice way to start the week, check in with my heavenly angels. We had placed a small angel for my dad there after he passed and this year we added another cheribum for Lola. The Gardeners had moved them recently and placed them in a beautiful patch of blooming purple flowers. It was my Monday spot. Unfortuntely last week both angels were gone. It could have been the weather, maybe they were not allowed there in the first place, or someone needed those angels more than me. Either way I will miss that "hello." It was just the spot that made me smile on a much needed Monday. I will still go and carry on with my routine, I will just have find a butterfly, bright shining sun, vibrant flower, or even a penny to see my angels.

Love Always,

172 Months

Lola's angel ornament for 2023 is on the tree. It such a pretty angel! She is gracefully holding a shell to her ear and outlined in sparkling gold. We have spent a lot of our vacation time this year at Vero Beach and I always feel such a close connection with her near the water and watching the sunrises. Maybe it is the beauty of nature that glorifies our loved ones in heaven so the ornament seems fitting! Finley's favorite angel on tree is Lola's picture, it truly makes my heart smile. She is missed everyday but especially during the holidays. The greatest gift I have this season  is knowing she is in heaven with my parents and family. Merry Christmas!

171 Months

We have already put up Lola's tree, Milo seemed to ask everyday after Halloween if it was time yet. It is one of my favorite things about the season! Every angel we hang up gives me time to reflect on Lola and even the person who gifted us the angel for her tree. It makes it even more special to hold the ones from those who have also passed and are with her in heaven now. I am hoping this season we can spend more time sitting by Lola's tree, with a good book or just admiring it. I am so happy we started this tradition for her 14 years ago, she is always part of our holidays.

170 Months

After a hectic day at the Doepke household, it was so refreshing to light our candle for Lola. Yesterday, was the Wave of Light. We have used the same candle for fourteen years for this. It now filled with knicks, black smoke lines the edges, and it is getting smaller each year, BUT it still shines bright for her. Sweet Finley put his hands together like a cherubim angel statue, he closed his eyes and prayed as he sat by the candle. Milo blew it out at 8pm sharp! These angels are never forgotten, I know Lola will never be. Lots of candles were lit for her last night. She will always be our angel!

169 Months

A couple weeks ago, I started to work again on the kids' birthday books. That also meant Lola's book. I honestly have avoided putting things in there since coming to Celebration. With our move, renovation, and my dad passing I just kept all her birthday items each year in an envelope. It seems silly that something that easy to do, I avoided or made an excuse in my mind not to do it. Maybe it was avoiding the fact that some of the most important and special people in my life are gone. That is never easy to do..it is done now.

On a side note, Finley found a special penny from Lola at Milo's band high school night. It was just as we were exiting our row, kind of perfect. He thought it was extra shiny and I thought it was the best sign.
